過疎化に悩まされる尼ヶ孕村。
そこでは世間の常識を無視した性風習と、奇病が流行っていた。
昔からこの村では、男児がほとんど生まれず、女児ばかりしか生まれない世代の時期があり、
その度に跡継ぎに困る事態に陥ってきた。
それおを解消する為、若い男女をほぼ強制的に子作りさせる風習を、村ぐるみで強要していたのだ。
重婚を合法とする「はぁれむ婚」と、若い女達を村唯一の若い男子の家に奉公させ、
性奉仕と妊娠できる腹か試す「孕試し」である。
